PRE-WASHED PACKAGED ICEBERG LETTUCE SALAD and COLESLAW information

April 1, 2024 from COR Detroit:

PRE-WASHED PACKAGED ICEBERG LETTUCE SALAD and COLESLAW require Pesach approval due to the citric or lactic acid that may be used in the washing process. All Star-K and OK certified brands, including Fresh Express, Dole, Little Salad Bar [Aldi] and Marketplace [Walmart] require a P next to the Kosher symbol.

Status: Acceptable for Passover if it contains no sensitive additives
All fresh raw and pre-washed bagged Iceberg lettuce and other non-kitniyos vegetables such as whole carrots (regular and baby), shredded and sliced carrots, shredded cabbage and broccoli slaw are acceptable for Passover if they do not contain sensitive ingredients and are purchased before Pesach. The produce must be washed and checked for insects when applicable

ELITE CHOCOLATES are recommended only when bearing the certification of the OU or the Badatz of Eida Hacharedis. For Pesach, special Pesach marking is required.

SCHMERLING'S SUGARLESS AND NO SUGAR ADDED CHOCOLATES are not Kosher for Pesach, and state so on their labels.

ELITE BAZOOKA FLAVORED BUBBLE GUM: The regular type is available with an OU-P. Beaware,however,that the Sugar Free type being sold for Pesach is "OU Kitniyot".
From the OU in respose to the editor's question: The Bazooka Bubble Gum bags with a plain OU and Rabbi Babad kosher for Passover is OUP.

Passover Alert: Alert Terra Di Noa Huile D'Olive

Terra Di Noa Huille D'Olive Vierges Melange D'huiles, Julie Or SAS, Paris France:

The Orthodox Union certifies Terra Di Noa Olive Oil for year round use only, but not for Passover. This product is sold in France (and possibly other European countries). Some labels have the words "Casher LePessah" (Kosher for Passover) under the OU mark. The Orthodox Union does not certify this oil for Passover.

Passover Alert: Delivery of Chometz Products by Subscription Services on Passover

Passover Star-K statement for Ceres juices

April 2, 2024 from the Star-K in response to a question from the editor.

Ceres Juices with a Star-k P are not kosher for Passover. Many products also say NOT FOR PASSOVER under the date code.

March 23, 2023 from the Star-K:

Please note that effective December 2022, STAR-K changed the status of the entire line of Ceres 100% Juice from "STAR-K Kosher for Passover" to STAR-K for year-round use only. This was due to a change in a processing aid used by the manufacturer that does not meet STAR-K's standards for Pesach.

Consumers who find containers of Ceres Juice on store shelves bearing a STAR-K P symbol should note that while these items are no longer certified Kosher for Passover according to STAR-K standards, they are halachically Kosher for Pesach.

New productions of Ceres Juice will bear only a STAR-K symbol.

Recall: Ta’amti Passover Gluten-Free Potato Bourekas 17.6 Oz

March 28, 2024 from the Baltimore Jewish Life:

– Kayco, a Bayonne, NJ based company, is advising of a Market Withdrawal of a limited amount of their Ta’amti 17.6 oz Passover Gluten Free Potato Bourekas. In some instances; Packages may be labeled as “Gluten Free Potato Bourekas” but contains Gluten Free Mushroom Bourekas, both bourekas – Mushroom and Potato are gluten free and Kosher for Passover. Although mushrooms are not considered a common food allergy, they can trigger an allergic reaction among people sensitive to mushrooms.

This market withdrawal was initiated when the company received a notification by our QC regarding the mislabeling. The company has received no reports of illness or injury to date. We immediately informed all retailers who had purchased this lot code about this withdrawal and instructed them to inspect their inventory or remove any potential affected product on their shelves.

Only packages bearing the Lot Code below, may potentially have Gluten Free Mushroom Bourekas in the “Gluten Free Potato Bourekas” package.

Passover Alert: Dikla Delicious

Some Dikla Delicious Gluten Free products have been recently labeled as Kosher for Passover mistakenly.

All products from Dikla Delicious are only kosher for Passover when “Kosher for Passover 2024” is printed on the label.

Passover information on Fish 2024

March 18, 2024 from the Kof-K:

The following brands of frozen raw unseasoned Salmon with regular Kof-K certification, that comes from Chile (not the USA or China) with the plant codes 10810,8163,10064, 10664, 10067, 10-11-6, 12079 may be used on Pesach without special Passover supervision.

The following brands of frozen raw unseasoned Whiting with regular Kof-K certification, that comes from Chile (not the USA or China) with the plant code 8323, may be used on Pesach without special Passover supervision.

If there are any other ones found which one has a question about please be in touch with the Kof-K office.

March 19, 2024 - From the OU Fish:

The following OU certified frozen fish portions are acceptable for Passover. Please note these refer to raw frozen fish portions, not smoked, spiced or seasoned.
